Genetically Modified Soybeans !

My Opinion

As of now I think it isn’t safe to put genetically soybeans onto the market and feeding them to livestock that we are going to end up eating although it seems as though they have already started to. As read above, the number of risks and cons to genetic modification is quite a lot to consider since most of it can actually affect humans in some way. 

Scientists have done the research and it shows that eating GM foods such as soybean poses as a health risk; such as feeding rats GM soybeans. The result was quite sad as many of those rats had offspring that died in the first three weeks. No mother would want to hear any news like this happening to their new born baby so why would you risk it? The GM soybeans are fed to livestock which are then eaten by humans so pregnant mothers could be affected very soon. 

If GM soybeans are making humans develop allergies more easily, then why would you risk it by continuing to produce it? We try to keep as physically strong as possible and eating GM foods would only make it worse. 

If possible, I think scientists should try placing new kinds of random DNA into foods and testing the outcomes until it has been proven that it is fully safe for human consumption otherwise we should just to natural food products that haven’t been modified by scientists. 

However, I can see why many farmers and companies would be in favour of GM foods. There is a lower production cost involved which would make many happy and it would also be less time consuming. The GM soybeans can also produce higher yields and be resistant to herbicides which would be great for many farmers across the world but as mentioned above, I don’t think the risk would be worth it. 

Wouldn’t you rather put in more time and effort and have something safe to eat rather than something that poses as a health risk to us and possibly our future children?
